Reader Responses: Whom are You Grateful for?
In the last newsletter, we asked you to tell us about someone for whom you were grateful, and we were touched and inspired by your responses. Here are some of our favorites:
I am so very grateful for my husband of 39 years. He’s seen me through the good times as well as the bad times with unwavering love and support. After I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year there wasn’t one day he wasn’t at my side pushing me to continue fighting even when I didn’t think I had the strength to go through one more chemo. Only he could find the humor in shaving off what was left of my hair…we both laughed and cried and then laughed and cried some more. He is my rock and I will love him forever.
—Maureen, Missouri
As far as gratitude is concerned, I am so very grateful for my youngest daughter, Christine. She was there for me the whole time and in every way after my diagnosis and treatment for a brain tumor. Even though she had a young child herself at the time (a 2-year old), I don’t think I ever heard her complain once about taking me to doctor visits, or doing whatever needed to be done. My husband was also a great joy and support to me, as were many good friends, but she was like my personal Angel all during that time.
—Arlene, New Jersey
I am grateful for a lovely lady at my church named Peggy. She is always smiling and never complains. She is a person that you become instantly happy the minute that she walks in the room. Her face exudes an aura that makes you feel instantly happy. She has been facing many adversities with a very ill husband and you would never know it. She is the person that always brings everyone together and finds only good every day. I aspire to be more like Peggy and hope that people would find my face, attitude and presence to be a blessing and to be a complaint free person.
—Karen, Florida
